A permanent change of station move stacks a lot onto one calendar: household goods pickup, out-processing, travel days, and a firm report date at the other end. Sahara Auto Transport takes the car off that list. Our military PCS vehicle shipping service moves your personal vehicle between duty stations anywhere in the US, with door-to-door service wherever a truck can safely reach. You give us the dates you are working with, and we build the pickup and delivery window around them instead of asking you to rearrange your move around a carrier.
Many military families drive one car to the new installation and ship the second, which saves days on the road and keeps everyone traveling together. Others ship every vehicle and fly. Either way, you get a free, no-obligation quote, a vetted and insured carrier, and a documented Bill of Lading inspection at pickup and delivery. If a deployment, TDY, or early report date pulls you away mid-move, a spouse or a trusted person holding a power of attorney can release or receive the vehicle in your place.
Who uses our PCS car shipping
- Active duty members with PCS orders to a new stateside installation
- Military families shipping a second vehicle while driving the first
- Spouses managing the move while the service member reports early
- Members who would rather fly to the new base than drive cross-country
- Guard and Reserve members relocating for orders or military schooling
- Retirees making a final move after separation
What you get
Why customers choose Sahara for this
Built around your report date
Tell us when you sign out and when you need to sign in. We plan the pickup window and delivery target around those dates so the car is waiting when you need it.
Power of attorney friendly
If you deploy or go TDY, a spouse or designated agent can sign the Bill of Lading at either end. We note who is authorized before the driver arrives.
Base access coordination
Car haulers cannot always get through the gate. When on-post delivery is not possible, we set a safe meeting spot nearby, such as an open lot outside the main gate.
Vetted, insured carriers
Every vehicle moves with a licensed carrier that carries cargo insurance, and its condition is inspected and recorded at pickup and delivery.
One point of contact
A Sahara coordinator stays with your order from booking to delivery, so you are not chasing updates while you clear quarters and out-process.
Step by step
How Military PCS Vehicle Shipping works
Mile 01
Share your orders timeline
Call 888-509-8666 or request a quote online with your pickup address, new duty station, and the key dates from your orders. Your quote is free with no obligation.
Mile 02
Lock in the pickup window
We assign a vetted carrier and confirm a pickup window that fits your out-processing. If you will be away, tell us who will hand over the keys.
Mile 03
Inspect and load
The driver walks around the car with you or your agent, notes existing marks on the Bill of Lading, and both of you sign before the car is loaded.
Mile 04
Delivery at your new station
The carrier calls ahead and meets you at your new address or an agreed spot near the installation. You check the car against the pickup report, then sign.

PCS car shipping tips from our coordinators
Summer is the busiest PCS season, and carrier space on routes near large installations fills quickly from May through August. Booking as soon as you have orders in hand gives us the most room to match your dates. Entitlements for moving a privately owned vehicle within the US depend on your orders and branch, so check with your installation transportation office about what, if anything, may be reimbursable, and keep your Sahara invoice and Bill of Lading for your records.
Before pickup, leave about a quarter tank of fuel or less, remove personal items and toll transponders, and tell us about any warning lights. Do not pack household goods in the car, since carriers generally do not allow them and cargo insurance does not cover them. Heading to Hawaii, Alaska, or overseas? OCONUS vehicle moves often run through a government vehicle processing center, and we can handle the stateside leg to or from the port if you choose to ship privately.
